I think the type of capacitors you are talking about are used to keep power spikes down. If so they are going to be wired in between the battery and the sub amplifier(s). The cap will need to be as close the amp as possible and be grounded with a separate heavy gauge cable, preferably to a different spot than your amps ground. The power wire from the battery will be connected to the pos. terminal on the cap. A second lead will run from that terminal to the amps pos. input. With the cap as close to the amp as possible and the cables from the cap. to the amp as short as possible and as thick as needed for your power requirements. Your ground wire should also be thick (heavy gauge) and short, terminated on clean paint free metal surface of your vehicle. The power wire from the battery should also be as thick as needed-more is better here so don't be afraid to spend some money. THERE IS ALSO A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CAPACITORS-you should slowly charge the cap before connecting the lead from the battery, not doing so is DANGEROUS. You can use either a 12volt light bulb or a small resistor to charge the cap. One side of the resistor or the light is connected to the battery lead and the other to the pos. of the cap. If you are using a light bulb it will indicate charging by lighting up. If you use a resistor you will need a voltmeter to check your progress (be carefull with either of these methods they can be a little hot on your fingers). When done charging, hook up the battery wire and you should be good to go. If it was done right and you have the right size caps for your setup the following things will occur and not necessarily in this order.
1. Your headlights are no longer dancing to the beat.
2. Your rear veiw mirror is harder to see through.
3.You will not have to replace your alternator or battery in your car anytime soon.
4. A smile will appear on your face as you plan your next move towards world domination!
