Used to be the spark plugs would get so hot that they would keep the car running by itself with no spark, only heat from the plugs to ignite the gas, now days, it is a different story, I have never found any 2 cars alike, but they do it a lot. Used to be able to flood the carb with fuel to stop it, but now with throttle bodies and fuel injection, you can't even do that. I would at least check the plugs, or change them for starters, then go from there. It could be a number of things wrong, plug wires, ignition, brain box bad, running hot, rich, glowing like a diesel, etc. Check it out, hope this helps.
