Car drives fine untill i go to stop and then the car tries to die i have to put it in neutral to keep it from dieing. it seems like the tranny is still trying push the car. the car is a 1995 eagle vision esi with a 3.0L with a 4 speed auto

Could be the lockup torque converter is not unlocking. If you leave it in drive but don't hold the brake, does it still die? Does it go forward faster than normal for that condition (3-5 MPH)?
