I got a skip in mine as well. As far as the coil pack and omh test can be done. the coild should read 13000 omhs between the coil so the bottom two should read 13k the middle two and top two. on coil. now t he secondary should read .5 ohms. Autozone will do this test for free. Does it just miss at idle or under strain or load. Under load will make me think coil and wires. The fuel filter is inline.. You just need to remove gas cap to relieve fuel pressure. You can release fuel pressure from the fuel line but is not necessary. You only need to disconnect it, and replace with new one. You can find further instructions if you go to autozone.com and register for free. Then you will have a full free online repair manual!!!!!!
Before replacing coil packs, remove each plug on at a time, put wire back on plug and lay on top of motor or metal surface. Then have some turn the car over and see if you have spark to every spark plug. If you have spark to every plug, then the coil packs and module are fine. and just the wires may need to be replaced. If you do not have spark in one or two wires, then you can get coil packs and module at junk yard for about $40

I changed the fuel filter. It is still hard to start. Their are 2 things that I would like to pick your brain. The engine temp sensor and the MAF. Does that maf have a flap inside it that closes when the engine is cold? Does the brain take a reading from the engine temp sensor and close that flap so that the engine can have a fuel air mixture similar to that of older cars with a choke? I was thinking of tinkering with the maf. the engine has not been tun in 3 weeks. That was after I had the fuel filter replaced. When I take the hose loose and unsnap the filter cover should I be able to see daylight or should that puppy be open OR should I turn the ignition on first (without cranking the car) then should that flap be closed for cold starts when I look in there?I changed the fuel filter. The fuel filter is under the drivers side of the vehicle or should be i believe on this model of car along the inner-side of the frame. I believe it takes two wrenches to get it off. 11/16 and a 5/8. You don't have to prime the filter because when you stick a new one on the electric fuel pump will fill it up. Also make sure you break open you gas cap first to relieve pressure before removing the fuel filter.
I have changed the fuel filter and the car is still too fugging hard to crank in the morning. Is their a flap in the MAF that closes like a choke for cold cranking? Should that flap be closed on cold start? What is the ohms on a eng temp sensor of the engine when dead cold.I have changed the fuel filter and the car is still too fugging hard to crank in the morning. I put a new starter on the car last week. Somehow came up the the car insuarance money this week I also added some Prestone fuel injector cleaner to the tank. Today it only took 3 trys to get it cranked while pumping the gas. Not bad. The fuel injector cleaner seems to be doing the trick. The battery is staying hot so the drain musta been in the starter. The new starter came with a butte connector for the ignition wire instead of a flag terminal like the original. Directions said something about corrosion problems. I would like to take the time express my thanks to all who gave me advice. I have upgraded the status from sh!tty to so-so. I am hoping the more she drives it the better it will get. I cannot get a new car. This one was handed down to me from my Dad. I couldn't make payments anyway on disability. Thanks again. I get up every morning and crank the car for the wife. Maybe one day she will be able to. LOL !I put a new starter on the car last week. Somehow came up the the car insuarance money this week I also added some Prestone fuel injector cleaner to the tank.
