Car will start for a few seconds then dies
1991 Chrysler Imperial with a 3.8L V6. It will start, but it dies after about 2 seconds with the pedal depressed or not. The fuel pump is working, the car revs up when the pedal is pressed down before it dies.

Still sounds fuel related to me. Getting minimal fuel enough to start & or rev, but not maintaining proper pressure required. Try this. Get a can of WD-40 ready, remove air intake hose at throttle body. Start car & when it starts to begin to die, spray some WD-40 into front of throttle body & see if engine continues to run, as long as you keep giving it squirts of 1-2 seconds. If it does, change fuel filter first, but be prepared to do pump too. If you can get a fuel pressure test done on it, that would be even better. Let me know what happens.
Problem with fuel pumps is they will do that, run one day not the next.My last car ran fine all winter, then when weather got warmer, started to quit. Sit for a while, then restart (pump cooled down) .
Hot day would quit 2-3 times on way home, at almost exact same spots. next day weather was cool, got all the way to work (40 miles) & back (40 more) without a problem, other than slightly less acceleration when floored. Did you happen to notice fuel level, or outside temperature when it ran good? More fuel, cooler on pump. My fuel pressure was 48-50 psi when car cool in morning, when it got hot in afternoon & started to act up, fuel pressure dropped to 5-10psi. Shouldn't cost much to have fuel pressure test done, takes about 5 minutes but try to have it done on a hot day, with low, (below half) fuel in tank, and keep it parked in hot sun until going to have it done. basically you want it to be acting up when you get there.
