The hdd red wire gooes to pin #1 the hdd white wire goes to pin #3 the power sw orange wire goes to pin #6 the power sw white wire goes to pin #8 The reset sw blue wire goes to pin #7 the reset sw white wire goes to pin #5 the power led green wire goes to pin #2 the power led white wire goes to pin #4.
Now the layout of the pins is the long row (5) pins are the odd number pins 9 being the odd one and 1 is the other end of the row. 2 through 8 start at the pin accross from 1 : : : : . I hope this helps you.
The pin layout on the MB are color coded. There is green, orange, pink, and blue. I'll start with the green pins 2 and 4 these are for the power led wires, bottom pin #2 is the + pin (your green wire). Pin #4 is - (your white wire). Now the orange pins, pins 1 and 3 these are for the HDD led. The bottom pin #1 is the HDD + pin (your red wire). Pin #3 is the HDD - (your white wire). Now the pink pins, 6 and 8 these are for the power switch. Pin #6 is the + pin (your orange wire). Pin #8 is the - pin (your white wire). Now the blue pins, 5 and 7 these are for the reset switch. Pin #5 is the - (your white wire). Pin #7 is the + (your blue wire). The way you have the pins numbered is incorrect. The row with 5 pins is the odd numbers, and the row with 4 pins is the even numbers. Therefore it is possible to connect pin 1 and 3 to the red and white wires. I hope this clears it up for you.
