Chainsaw brake has jammed on how can it be reset
Chainsaw brake on my neighbour's Husqvana 41 petrol chainsaw has jammed on. I have taken the coverplate off but there is no means of slackening the sprung band. How do you slacken it off so it can be reasssembled and reset?

Hello David; I think you are saying it is operating normally and is intact but the brake is released and the band will not fit over the clutch drum. If I am correct this latches the band open when the hand guard is attached to the clutch cover.

If you do not have a vise a large C clamp to a work surface might work, you may still need a block or two of wood.
If the hand guard is not attached to the clutch cover try this:
Secure the cover (as above), then use a pair of pliers or a crescent wrench to rotate the spoked portion CW until it latches. It will require some force.
