Changed all batteries including back up. left it without any overnight and reinserted. have tried 2nd functions up Screen still completely blank Texas TI-89
while the calculator is black, is there any light up display on the screen?
If there there is none, then it means your calculator is having a power problem. Once stuffs like this does not turn on, then it is said to have a power problem.
First thing to check are those things that gives power to the calculator and the number one thing to check is the battery. Once you have confirmed that the battery is good or not the cause of the problem, then the battery current might not be entering into the calculator.
Get a screw driver, open up the calculator and check the now wires are disconnected for the battery side, you can further check the wires that connects from the battery to the calculator board/panel.
Once possible cause of the problem might be from the battery seat. If the metal where the battery seats is rust, the battery won't contact and there will be no power. In such situation, get a screw driver and scratch off the rust part.
Lastly, do a general troubleshooting while you open the calculator and check the panel. Also, I just hope the problem is not from the calculator panel/board, because if it is, it might be difficult to fix.
