charge problems - Sirius Stiletto 100
I have a stiletto 100 that will not consistently take/hold a charge. If I get the battery fully charged and leave it in the radio receiver, it will drain within hours even while not in use. However, if I get it charged and then remove the battery until I want to use the radio, it will be fully charged to start, but will deplete more rapidly than it should. I bought it in November 2006, and have the normal, plus extended life batteries, with similar problems no matter which battery I use. My thought is that the start (on/off) switch is shorted and/or causing the drain, so I don't think a new battery will fix my problem. Your thoughts? Gary B

An ohm meter across the contacts of the switch, with the battery removed, will show you if it has shorted. If you get a full scale defection on the meter, just like touching the test probes together, in the off position you will have a short.
