charger and purchased a new one of the same size. The light will work when plugged into the car cig lighter, but not while plugged into the dc adapter (has been plugged in for approx. 3 hours so far). Even though the charger is the same size (dc 12V 500ma), is that the problem? Or is the battery dead to the point of being unable to charge? Fuse is fine, by the way. Any suggestions would be appreciated

The owners manual states not to use light while under an ac charge, dc charging allows ld and single bulb use,and an ac charge may take 30- 36 hours or so. If the battery does not charge, you will probably need a new battery. Keep battery fully charged if not used within 2 months. Batterys are replacable 12 volt 7 AH. Hope this helps! Matthew
The battery life for these lights are for about 2 years at the most if left uncharged. The best way to determine if you need new a new battery or batteries would be to dismantle the light, remove the batteries and check the voltage with a volt meter. If they are dead, you may be able to fine a suitable replacement at: http://www.batterymart.com/c-04-12-volt-sealed-lead-acid-batteries.html
