Cheap fixes for poor manufacturing?
My m3x05f2d-b's mode selector (off/fan/AC) snapped off today (had to be the hottest day of the summer, 40C with humidex). The plastic is completely porous (small air bubbles throughout) so it was guaranteed to fail at some point. Does anyone know any cheap fixes for this part (meaning the black male part the nob slides onto to allow mode selection)? I don't think there's enough surface area for contact cement or melting the plastic to work effectively. It snapped right at the base so a sleeve or pair of pliers is out. I only needs be a short term fix - the unit seems designed to fail (metal sits in the drip pan rusting away very quickly)
