Check engine light comes on upon start up
I have a 1994 oldsmobile 98 regency. The check engine light will occasionally come on and remain on until I turn the engine off. All other start ups will be normal until after several more times the check engine light will appear again. The car continues to run fine even with the check engine light on. I 've had the car at different shops with the following codes on my computer read out. ( P0321/P1361 ). They inspected vehicle and had history code for ignition control module and also speed reference circuit - P0321/P1361 . They tested system and mentioned a short may be present with the crank sensor. Any suggestions regarding troubleshooting will be appreciated. check engine comes on only when i start car then goes off, i have a 1998 plymouth breeze cappichino 2.4.
Thank You.

Yes the shops technician got it right. as per the error code which you mentioned. These 2 codes are usually caused by a faulty crankshaft sensor (P0321) & possibly an ignition module (P1361). When replacing these parts part attention to the female electrical terminals in each connection. They will sometimes "spread" & cause an intermitten open circuit. Check each female electrical terminal with an opposing male terminal. There should be a small amount of "drag" when connecting the two of them. Thanks.Helpmech.
