Check Engine Light stays on 2002 Kia Spectra
We have replaced the charcoal cannister and it still stays on. We also replaced the control valve. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks
John

What code did it come up with? There are a couple of purge control solenoids as well as a vacuum pump that tests the system periodically. Let me know please and I will see what I can do to help.
I'm trying to find a better flow chart here. Does it seem like something you want to tackle? The rear seat lifts right off and gives you access to the fuel pump and connectors. The rest is under the vehicle.
Chances are this is going to be a faulty module heater and just needs to be replaced and code cleared. Good idea by changing the charcoal canister. These have definate issues with coming apart internally. Also, train your kid not to "top off" when filling up. On these cars it will destroy the canister again and create a few other trouble code issues.
