Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

To my knowledge, there are four versions of the Cobra 29LTD; LTD, LTD Classic, LTD Classic Gold and LTD Classic China. it is possible that the component/board layout number may differ with the one that you have. Additionally, most of the Cobra 29s uses a variety of Uniden PC78 board. Should you wish to try for experimental purposes only (but pls keep in mind probable difference of boards):

• Modulation improvement - adjust VR4 to desired level or cut D11or max talkpower remove TR18 ;
• AM Power - adjust L12, 13 & 14 for maximum power output using a dummy load/watt meter;
• replace TR14 with 2SC1969 or 2SC1307.
  

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
