It means that the O2 sensor is bad, or the wiring to it is shorted or broken. May have to investigate as to whether the wiring to the O2 sensor has become damaged somehow.
I'm a Ford engineer, but this usually means you have an issue with your oxygen sensors (O2). You have at least one upstream sensor (before the catalytic converter) that helps control the fuel mixture. It monitors the amount of hydorcarbons in the exhaust and sends that info to the engine computer. The computer then tells the fuel injectors to let in more or less gas. Then you have at least one downstream O2 sensor that monitors how much hydorcarbons are in the exhaust after it comnes out of the converter(s). It is there because of a government requirement. It's a tattle tale on the front O2 sensor if it's not doing it's job. It does not control anything. You can buy O2 sensors OEM or BOSCH for about $50 or less. I owuld change the upstream one(s) first and check to make sue the wiring to it is ok. It should have 3 wires and is mounted on the exhasut system, ususally in the pipe. The downstream sensor(s) have 4 wires usually.
Autozone can tell you how many of each that you have and quote you a price and who the manufacturer is. Start there and report results.
PS. Bank one is usually the dirver side or front in a sideways engine, and Bank 2 is the rear or passenger side.
