Coffee maker heats but does not ''perk''
We have two Westbend 100-cup coffee makers. Both of them will now heat water, but no water comes up through the center tube to actually wet the grinds and make the coffee. One pot reached this condition months ago, and yesterday the 2nd one (we bought to replace the 1st one) did the same thing. When the perking sounds stopped, we removed the lid and the grinds were dry. We have made sure the tube was properly inserted into the bottom hole.
The sounds when "percolating" are "different" - as if straining. Any ideas? Small appliance repair shops are few and far between anymore.
