This air conditioner is a series 8000 purchased around 2001. The fan is blowing out air but it isn't cooling. When turning on, the compressor starts running a few seconds then turns off and an electrical arch sound occurs along with an electrical smell. Before purchasing a new compressor I would like to know if it is what is causing this problem.
