Colors printing out looking tie-died not solid
Hi there, I have been trying to figure out what is wrong wiht my printer. It will not print a consisten solid color through the center of my page of my graphic/business cards. The right and left of the document is great but the center has a variance of the color I am using making the image look tie-died. I replace 3 color cartridges as the printer requested but still the same problem. Help!

The symptom you describe is typical of either a dirty laser window or a damaged belt. The latter usually shows as white vertical lines and the former tends to be a lighter version of the intended color. First. try cleaning the window with a dry duster (it is usually waste toner and isn't readily visible to the human eye). In most cases that is enough to clear it but any change in the distortion will indicate that the laser is the problem. It is harder to see damage on the belt particularly if it has been caused by being touched and as it cannot be cleaned it means it has to be replaced (which is why it isbetter to test the laser window first.
