Compatible CPU I wanted to upgrade my CPU from a AMD Athlon XP 1600+ , 1.4GHz to an Athlon XP 2600+ 1.8GHz My WinFast motherboard documentation says it suppoorts both 256 and 333 FSB. The faster chip is 256, i am not sure of my current one. I know little about computers, but could install the chip if it was just a straight forward swap, with maybe a little tweaking. Can I swap these two chips? Thanks, Mike
Computers & Internet - Foxconn - WinFast K7S741MG Motherboard for AMD Socket 462 CPU...
Check the winfast website for a cpu support list for your model of motherboard, that will tell you if it supports it and ALSO if you need to update the bios to support later cpu's, i'd imagine your using the old socket A standard, see if your motherboard is listed here> http://www.leadtek.com/eng/mainboard/default.asp?lineid=3&seriesid=23&chipseriesid=15 (this is what is now listed in google as winfast and does show winfast boards), please advise if you get stuck anymore.
