Usually if windows doesn't boot it lost boot.ini usually this happens if you had an install disk left in and you didn't exit an install the way the disk wanted you to. To correct this put in your windows cd and use it's repair function. If you don't have a windows install cd take your hard drive out and add it to another computer to slide a copy onto it. You can write your own boot.ini on a notepad and save as boot.ini. If it were an XP operating system you could go to DOS and copy a boot.ini to where it needs to go. Lots of options.
