Computer doesn't recognize the Zen Mozaic player
I have a Zen Mosaic. I have already installed the small cd that came with it. However, even still, when I plug it in, it does not read the device at all. It does recharge its battery, which means that the cable is fine, along with the other connection points, but the computer doesn't recognize it whatsoever. I've gone through my computer and it shows nothing in the drive. I have many songs on my mp3 and I don't want to lose all of the songs by resetting it.

Sometimes OE System doesn’t properly recognize a Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) device and assigns the wrong driver, usually this is an initial ID error and it will hook a generic Mass Storage Device (MSD) driver instead.
This procedure usually will set the correct driver for players that use MTP so give it a try. It may fail if there are class errors in your registry but it can also (sometimes) correct them. In any case, it won't do any harm since your player isn't connecting correctly anyway:
- Plug in the player so the USB bus can see it.
- Once it’s recognized (even wrongly), go to the Control Panel and choose "System"
- Choose "Hardware" then "Device Manager" tab.
- Look for “Universal Serial Bus” in the list
- If it is, Click on it. Under that it will say either “USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE” or “Mass storage device”
- If it's A “Mass storage device” then the correct drivers are probably loaded (see below for the correct ones)
- If it's a “Mass storage device” , Right Click to get the properties.
- Choose the “Driver” tab then “Driver Details” button
- Choose “Update Driver”
- Check "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and Click "Next"
- In the next window check only the "Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install” then click "Next" .
- In the next window highlight the “Portable Device” and click "Next" and browse to: C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS
- Choose “wpdusb.sys” as the driver and OK it until you see it update the driver.
In “most cases”, this will correct the problem of an MTP device being improperly recognized as Mass storage device ie, Flash Drive.
Also can check Update Firmware around your device
Good luck.
Ok, I'm thinking that this is an install problem with corrupt files. Check here the Troubleshooting for ZEN Mozaic 16; also, I can see that ZEN Mozaic have other models as ZEN Mozaic EZ300 4GB and ZEN Mozaic EZ300 8GB.
Try again with Vista Firmware Download
Other way for Vista (I think)... I think a lot people are having the same problem. They got home,
opened the box, plugged it in the computer, and nothing useful happened
so then we installed the mini-cd. Well the thing is Windows stops
looking for a driver once it searches and finds nothing, and
unfortunately those of us using XP do not automatically have the
drivers. So...
SOLUTION
- If you have not
already installed the mini-cd, do so, or download from Creative's site
in the support section(if you do you might want to grab the latest
firmware update)
- Once pack has been installed the drivers have been
as well, BUT as I mentioned we now have to tell windows to look for
them again.
- Reconnect your Mosaic
- Right click "My Computer"
- Chose
"Properties"
- Click the "Hardware" tab
- Click "Device Manager"
- A
window will pop up and you will see a long list with (hopefully only)
one thing under the "Other Devices" sublist. It should be something
along the lines of "Creative Zen Mosaic". Right click it
- Chose
"Update Drivers"
- Follow prompts agreeing to search and auto install
- Once
install is done, in a moment the screen on your Mosaic will say
"Docked"
- Congratulations!
If you have downloaded the updated
firmware this is the time to install:
- Ensure your Mosaic is in
"Docked" mode
- Execute the firmware update
- Click "Upgrade"
- Wait
(it takes a moment or two)
- Updater will say it is complete
- Mosaic
will reboot
- Click "Close"
- Congratulations!
Hope that
helps.

It is possible that you may not be able to use the drivers off the CD to get the player to detect on your computer if you have a newer firmware.
You may try downloading the latest version of the drivers and software from support.creative.com.
If you still have trouble let me know the exact model of Zen Mozaic you have. To do this I need to know the model number. The picture below is an example of what I am looking for.

If you check in device manager, is it being indicated with a yellow exclamation mark. windows xp or vista is supposed to install your player automatically and indicate it as a mass storage device. please visit here for a step by step guide on how to overcome the problem.
