A couple things to check to resolve this would be:
1. Make sure the USB port is selected in the printer driver.
2. Make sure the printer is in the correct mode. (with the drawer open, hold down the button - this toggles the modes)
3. Re-install the printer by deleting it in printers and faxes and uninstalling USB printing support in the Device manager. Click and scan for hardware changes, re-install.
