Consew 206 rb froze up suddenly-
I have pulle dout all the thread that I can see but, I can't get the hook/race assembly out without taking out a lot more screws. If I do that, will I be able to set the timing on my own?

You may want to lean the machine back and look very, very close for a very small piece of thread jammed in that race way. Resetting the timing is something you can do but first look for the simple stuff.
