Convection oven, model CMO 24SS has suddenly stopped working. It tripped the circuit breaker which we reset. We tested the line and found nothing wrong with the power. Hence, the problem is with the unit. We called DCS support who gave us the name of a couple of repairs technician in our area but none of them returned our calls. Any idea? Thanks
Hi, if it has tripped the circuit breaker after a reset then it could be beyond a DiY I'm afraid.
It is most likely just a build up of fatty grease which is making the unit arch internally, this can be rectified by a technician quite easily but if you are unsure what you are doing you could damage it further still.
MY advice is unfortunately leave it to the experts, avoid calling out an engineer, look up a decent repair shop and take the unit to them as this saves a call-out charge. Then when you drop it off ask them for an estimate BEFORE they do the work as this pushes them to keep the cost of repair realistic.
Hope you take my advice, microwaves can be very dangerous if not repaired properley
Just read your comment - you are an electronic technician... ok whole new ball-game as you I am speaking to someone who has brains! :o)
It seems, from reading the comment that you really have the situation weighed up, I feel you could replace parts with great ease if you are sure those are the parts at fault, I mean, this is really a fitters job, well beneath your skill level as no reset or programming required.
I am little confused when you say you have warranty on the main part? Surely this should cover it?

Its cheaper to renew than to repair i do feel, the sort is without doubt tin the coils ,they have started shorting out and to renew the parts including labour and a home visit will cost more than a trip to your local carrefour ,or in your case walmart and but a new one .Our local lidel has some on offer ,but sold out same day cant remember the price but it was for a combined oven grill microwave and rotary thingy for chickens and it was about 145 or so euros ,cheap i know but if it lasts 3/4 yrs ,i just bought a wine chiller glass fronted fridge thing 79euros .Yes i dare say some of this stuff is made in china but in all honesty to the chinese some of it is nearly as good as a bosch or indeset unit.As for the lcd flat screen i bought it says made in italy on the box but i thought yes assembled in italy ,but no i had a look at behind the panels and philips chips used with made in eec on them ,all for 299 euros and its every bit as good as a bang and olafson .
