Coolant leak around trans, housing
I have a coolant leak around trans. housing on my 92 ford f-150 v-8. truck was left over winter with only water in radiator. does not have to be running for leak to occur. was thinking it is a freeze plug behind housing but am not sure without pulling trans. housing.

I think it's better to track the leak down before pulling anything. Run it and find the leak but don't let it run out of water while you are looking. Back there it is likely the head gasket at the very rear or like you said a frost plug. Find where there is no water on the engine and work down from there.
Hi sounds like a core plug at the back of the engine block will need the gearbox removed to renew the the plug
