I recently bought a utility pump. Last night we had a torrential downpour - the pump turned on and off but did not stay on for a long enough time to stop water from coming into the basement. We have it placed by our French drain - should it be in the drain? top of the drain? next to the drain? How do we keep the pump on for a long period of time?
