Cracked lcd screen
I have a 37 lcd television, and the screen was hit and shows cracked glass line, everything else works even the picture still shows but of course you can see the cracks thru it, I called the manufacturer, they said the screen is not available, even if it is, it would cost as much as the tv. NOW my question is, if I take the broken glass and install a generic board of glass with the same thickness and size, WOULDN'T THAT WORK, Just wondering and appreciate actual technical advise.

You see cracks in glass that is not generic glass. It is LCD Panel made of new technology. That glass has few layers and a large amount of liquid crystal dots array built in. There are few polarizer in between LCD Panel. Below is an image having bit details about LCD Panel.
