Unfortunately all bread machines leave the hole in the bottom where the paddle is. some machines leave a bigger hole than others, with the exception of the cuisinart cbk-200 which allows you to remove the dough, then remove the paddle, then reshape and replace the dough....One thing you can try to have a softer, lighter crust is to replace the water in your recipe with the same amount of milk. If the hole in the big hole in the loaf really bothers you I suppose you could remove the dough exactly at the end of the final knead, remove the paddle and replace the dough in the pan...I've never done it but I've certainly considered it! best wishes and happy breadmaking...
