Hi...my name is Keith..and there is a couple of things that could be a problem...(1) is the battery cables needs cleaning or...(2) the ground connection to the frame is rusted or...(3) the engine alternator is bad.or needs attention...or (4) you have a bad amp meter(if one is installed on your mower)..i hope this has helped..if not..please write back

After checking all of your suggestions i was still having the problem
