Some models have an electronic clutch, you could check the resistance power to the clutch engage switch and then the the coil of the clutch with an ohm/volt meter. or with a set of jumper wires check it, it will make a clunk noise if its working. these are some preliminary test to get started with. the mower doesn't need to be running to do these tests.

Be sure battery is fully charged, check the switch and clutch.
