This is heat damage to the lcd panels due to the projector not being shut down properly. When the unit has been on for any lengthy period and it is shut off using the on/off switch on the rear of the unit, this shuts the whole thing down, fans and everything. If it is shut off using the on/off buttons on the remote or on top, the fans keep running until the unit is cooled and then powers itself completely off. The damage is only fixable by replacing the light engine and if not under warranty is very expensive.
