Check the tuner audio settings on the player. IN most recorders there are two options. Main and SAP. Ensure that main is selected. Also see if your player has attenuation settings. Which means that if the sound is very distorted, then the player will record without sound. Its a very troublesome thing and I suggest the attenuation setting to be turned off. Usually marked ATT or AAT in the recorder's tuner audio settings.

You may have to use a co-axial audio cable to get sound , Its analog audio so thats a fix. Or use the HDMI connection when you are not recording.
