Dacor wall oven
In early Jan.2016, the oven started to malfunction, eg not attaining set temperature, shutting off before set time, light flashing. A Cert. Dacor Technician advised oven needs #3 heat sensor & relay board ($486. parts alone) - he did not remove the oven from the wall to do any diagnostics - just played around with the control panel and stated the noted parts were needed .Waited 3mos for board - backorder. Note that the relay board and cooling fan was changed in 2012 on this 2009 oven which costs us $4500. Two weeks ago the tech arrived to install both parts - advised he could not enter His/THE code which according to him is necessary to install the new heat sensor, therefore, he advised it was obvious the Logic Board was now malfunctioning and would have to be replaced at a cost of approx. $1300.00. He advised to contact Dacor cust. service as they might discount the part for me. Contacted Dacor in Calif. who advised the Logic Board is approx. $300., while the quoted cost of +/- $1300. would apply to the Control Panel Assembly #12685-001 which includes the actual LCD Display # 92386, a LED Board # 923855S and the previous mentioned Logic Board #72724-C. The dilemma is: am I being scammed or whatever by the tech as common sense tells me that I likely need just one extra part (Logic Board) as opposed to the $1300. part which includes all of noted three parts. Note that DACOR Cust. service would not offer an opinion on the scenario nor would they put me through to their tech dept as stated this dept is only avail to authorized field technicians.
