Dash light for the speedometer area is out
The dashlight(s) that light up the speedometer at night is/are out on my 2002 Odyssey. I got replacement bulbs at the local parts store but don't know how to actually replace those little bulbs. Where are they? I've looked up under the steering wheel but can't see where the bulbs are or would be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jean,
The instrument panel lights that you're talking about are accessed by removing the whole instrument panel...This is not usually a 'do it your self' job, but it is not very difficult....Check to see what type of anti theft device is installed on your vehicle. If it is fitted with the type of unit which needs to be re-coded. best leave the whole job alone....If not then carry on with the job....If you have an adjustable steering wheel, place it as low as it will go....Remove the screws from the steering cowling and remove the plastic covers from the column....With those covers off, remove the screws that are found on the upper surface of the surround cowling of the instrument panel (run your fingers under the upper surface of the plastic surround, to find where the screws are) .....Once that has been done, gently pull the instrument panel towards you...You'll find that the plugs on the back of the unit are color coded and will not fit into the wrong socket....Gently release each one (each has a special locking device which must be pressed) Once the unit has been removed, you;ll see small cubish looking units on the rear of the panel....To make sure that you identify them correctly, choose an indicator lamp on the front of the panel and then look at the back, to identify the lamp unit....You'll be able to see which are which, by identifying the ones which are the tell tales and those which are for illumination of the panel...They're the ones which don't have a warning symbol on the read out side of the panel....Now that we've talked about how to do the job you asked to be described....have you checked the fuses? It's very unusual for the lamps to blow and even more so to have them all go together....Do you have a control to increase and decrease the light intensity of the instrument panel?.... It may be that they;ve been simply turned off.... Let me know how you get on
Best regards
