Hi hope this works but to me it works well. about the hdd error, find out if it is making cracking or any funny noise, if yes replace it with a new hard disk. or look on the internet for hirens xp it contains hard disk testing softwares and for the case of your daughter locked pc, in that hirens xp you will find soft wares for deleting all the passwords. but dont use it to crack passwords of stolen pcs.
