Derivitive help i have a problem with solving derivetives . i tried find the dervitive of x^3 and it gave me 48 how do i fix the problem and make it find derivetives the normal way

Press [F3: Clac] and select [1:d ( differentiate] Enter the function right after the left parenthesis Enter a comma Enter the name of your independent variable, presumably x Close the parenthesis and press [ENTER]
In the following screen capture the pipe symbol | may not be available to you on the TI89 keyboard, so you must find it at the end of the [CATALOG].
The screen capture come from a Ti92Plus not a Ti89 (the screen is larger), but the instructions given above are valid.
It sounds like you have a value stored in the variable X. Press 2ND MEM to get into the memory management menu. Press 2, then 1. Scroll down to "X" then press DEL. Press 2ND QUIT to get out of the memory management.

If you want to selectively delete a variable, or a constant or anything in memory
- Press [2nd][Var-Link]
- Press [F2:View] to list the contents of memory
- Open the folder where the object (variable, constant, matrix, list, graph, etc) is
- User cursor key to highlight the name
- Press [F1:Manage]
- Select [1:Delete]
- You will be prompted to confirm the delete operation.
You can also press [F4:Check Mark] to select the object you wan to delete and then press the Backspace arrow [It sounds like you have a value stored in the variable X.
