Did I kill my NT1A Condenser Microphone?
OK... Tonight I was turning my preamp on and i just went and ahead and turned the Phantom power button without looking at the gain knob... the gain knob was at +45dB as soon as i turned it on..!! I didn't mean for it to be there so i quickly turned down the knob.... now my mic sounds like it can't take a loud sound or else static starts to come through the input... is it possible to "blow" out my micrphone using only the gain knob?????? I usually keep the knob at around 15dB....

This mic has a pre-ampcircuit inside. It sounds like that preamp has a defective stage. What you are hearing is distortion. This is not something that can be repaired locally. This mic should be sent to the manufacturer for repair.
