Disc will not load!
I insert a disc into my Mintek 1810 Portable DVD Player and the screen tells me it is loading. After a few seconds, the screen says "NO DISC"
Please tell me how to get this player to work properly as it did in the past.

The dvd player has problem with the lens get lens cleaner to clean the lens that will solve the problem, after you clean the dvd player lens with lens cleaner play the disc again if it tell you know disc again play another disc with the player, if the same that means the dvdplayer lens has damage you can then change the dvd lens with good lens. but if is minor dust the lens clean can be able to solve the problem.
This may be a hard part failure, but 1st go to the Device manager and remove the disk player from the list of devices loaded in your system, then turn off the PC and restart, it should say found new hardware and reload the player
I have had this problem on my own PC and used what I suggested to clear it, but if it doesn't the DVD device is defective, they are real cheap, just replace.
The part that reads the info from the disc might be defective or need to be clean using a lens cleaner. Another problem could that the lens mechanism did not come back to the home position and a switch is not activated to let the microprocessor knows to read the disc.

Try using a DVD lens cleaner disk, often when you get no disk it is because of a dirty lens.
Here is a choice of lens celaners, get a good one with liquid solution and try.
If that does not work, then you will need to have a technician taking apart the DVD and cleaning the lens manually, or replacing the defective lens pickup.

see if the player tries to read the disc. Load a disc and listen.
Does the player make squealing noises or is it totally quiet? Squealing noises may indicate that the player is trying to synchronize with the disc but can't due to an obstruction on the lens or in the laser path inside the pickup or a defect in the pickup. This can also be caused by an intermittent signal problem due to a faulty ribbon cable.
Totally silent means that the photo sensor is not getting any usable input from the laser at all, meaning that the pickup is "blind" for lack of a better word.
This can be caused by an obstruction of the beam by foreign matter on the lens or inside the pickup all the way to a marginal or failed laser diode and/or photosensor array. This can also be caused by a bad ribbon cable with one or more severed traces.
You could try to clean the optics. This is the most common malfunction as far as i know in all disc players. It would involve taking the cover off and finding a way to expose the lense, and then cleaning it with a very gentle brush. some players have a cover for the lense that swings to the side during playing, this greatly reduces the chance of dust accumulating, but its still worth the try.
If you actually see dust on the lense, then its just that simple. clean, close, play.
It may also be worth your while to check on the small shafting that guides the carriage of the laser pickup. Dirt, grome, dust and solidified lubricant can cause stoppage of the carriage and the laser eye then fails to read the next track. Please refer to the image i have attached.
Also Make sure your box is not blowing really hot air and nothing is right behind it blocking it.. Turn it off for a few minutes and let it cool down and then give it a try playing the discs..

How to Fix a No-Disc Error on a DVD Player
Step1Check the disc you're using for scratches and dirt. If the disc is damaged it won’t play properly, regardless of the DVD player’s ability to function. You can use a DVD repair device like the "Disc Doctor" to repair the DVD or purchase a new DVD.

Step4Insert a correctly-formatted, undamaged disc into your player. Listen to see if it begins to read the disc. If it continues to make no sound and gives you the same message, then the problem is probably that your disc is not spinning in the device.
tep5Turn the device off and unplug it. Take off the outer casing by removing the three or four screws and lifting the top piece off. This will allow you to see if anything is simply stuck or jammed. If this is the case, a simple nudge back to the correct position will fix the problem.
Step6Clean the lens while the DVD player is open. A dirty lens is most likely the cause of your no-disc error. The lens should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
Step7Take your DVD player to have it professionally fixed only when none of these other solutions solves the problem. A professional repair technician will be able to tell you if fixing your DVD player is worth the money
