Disc will not play appears to be skipping

How can I fix a skipping problem with my Technics disc player SL-PC20.
It's old but in great condition. Any suggestions?

There is a product called a cd/dvd lens cleaning disc. Worth the investment to have around.

Be sure discs are free of dust and scratches.
