check out does it shows in Disk Utilitycheck out the fire wire of the drive may be its got pulled or it got loose internally. or if the wires are proper and if there is no loose connection then it can be the problem of internal spinning disc.it may be cracked.in this case nothing can be done. but in some cases this temporary options have worked for some.but its a 50 --- 50 chance not a 100% option. "Spinning and clicking noise" doesn't sound good. If nothing else works, you can try this:
1. Take the hard drive out of it's case. Put it into a zip-lock or other sealed plastic bag, and squeeze all of the air out of the bag.
2. Put the hard drive in the freezer overnight.
3. In the morning, take it out, then immediately put it back into it's case, or into a computer. If it mounts, retrieve data from it immediately, the most important data first. The freezer trick doesn't last that long.but if nothing helps then its a faulty drive.you will have to get it replaced.if you have copied the data back up in another file you will have the data back.but if you have all the data in the disc but not copied it else where then all data is lost.there is a software called data recovery software.some computer repair shop have this software.you can get your hard disc check out there.in some cases you can get all the data back from the faulty hard disk with the help of this software. in other cases data is gone and new hard disc is required. This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya
