Do inexpensive corded phones have an internal battery? I just hooked up a phone that was stored away for a couple of years. It takes a few seconds to get a dial tone, but that time seems to be getting quicker after awhile
The 52860 is a phone line powered phone. There may be a memory backup battery or capacitor but it should not effect the operation of the phone drawing dial tone. Perhaps the hookswitch contacts are oxidized from storage and using it is cleaning them up a bit. If there is a battery, it should be accessible from either the bottom of the phone or, more typically, from under the directory card on the base.
