Engines need 3 conditions to run; fuel, spark, and..... compression. Please check the compression... with a compression gauge. If it is less than 100 psi, squirt two ounces of oil into the cylinder, leave the spark plug out and turn the engine over for 2-3 seconds with the starter to distribute the oil. With the gauge, check the compression again. If the compression went up, the rings are bad, if it didn't, check the valve clearances.
