Hi, I run a Galaxy D979 myself. The mods you're looking for must be done by a professional these days. Here is why. If you clip the modulator restrictive and your swing goes to say 30+ you can overload your own circuits. These must be checked by a professional with the right figures. If you are determined - it is by far cheaper to have some CB repair shop to do it - it's called 'peak and tune' and cost about 50.00. It is far safer for the radio to be set up by a pro.

This radio are know as what's called 'export' radio. They are imported under the auspices of being a 10 Meter Amateur radio and then through a typically easy modification are made to allow the selection of US CB channels. usually the modification involves plugging in a loose connector inside the radio radio chassis and/or removing a jumper wire soldered to a circuit board. If there is a nearby CB Shop they will usually do this for a modest fee.
Keep in mind that a radio needs to be Type Accepted by the FCC to be legal to use on the CB band in the US and export radios typically are not. Be sure to check the rear label for an FCC ID number.

Ok - gotcha - the boards are very close to the same and a 40 swing is tops as you must know. Sounds like you hit this one out of the park.,
Congratulations and best of luck with the C/B
My handle is RICESKI so see you on the airwaves from Columbia, South Carolina.
