It sounds like a defective timer. The timer is behind the dial that you use to set the cycles. You will need to remove the screws that hold the top control panel down. Once these screws are removed the panel will flip up. Then you will be able to get to the timer. Verify that there are no loose connectors causing the problem. Also blow out the timer with compressed air to clear out any dust that might be causing a malfunction. Otherwise you may need to replace the timer.
