Does the electronic controlled 1800 btu window air conditionr have to be manually reset if the electricity goes off. I am going to install it in a remote location that no-one stays constantly?

Different company , different settings,
all i could advice to you is to test the unit before you buy them. find the one that suits your taste. run them for 10 mins, unplug then for 5, then re plug them and see what happens.
some units wold memorize their last state and continues it as power comes back on, some units don't.
but, for a mechanical type units, then there is no problem, it would run as longas the switches are on.
