there are two plastic units on the side of the door jam at the bottom and just in side the door. One unit sends out a light beam and the other receives it. They must be lined up for the door to work. Most likely one of those units was bumped out of position and needs to be re-aligned. Look at the top of the units They should both have a plastic locator pin that fits into the metal bracket that holds in place. if the plastic pin is not in the hole in the bracket it has been bumped and is out of place. Gently move the plastic unit until the pin snaps back into the bracket hole. It is important to do this carefully so you don't bend the bracket. Then give the remote a try. It's surprising how often this happens. (I can attest to that) Good Luck
