Might be worth looking in the owners manual to see if the car is equipped with a fuel safety shutoff switch. Some of the cars around that era had a switch that would automatically cut power to the fuel pump in the case of a accident. If those switch is engaged it will keep fuel from feeding. Usually its located in the trunk area or on the drivers side in the front under the dash area. I don't know for sure if that particular car has one.
Another question does the car smell like it is getting flooded with gas when you try to start it?..........
