Ducati 999 died on a ride - electrical problem I think
2003 Ducati 999 with 1900 miles on it. Been sitting for about 3 or 4 months. Fired it up and it kept dying at idle. Figured might not be that bad of an idea to take it for a ride. That was dumb. Rode it for 20 miles. Let it sit. On my way home after like 5 miles. Check engine light came on. 2 miles after that the bike died. Oil light and check engine light on at this time. Bike does have gas. Bike fuel pump does activate. Bike does have ample voltage. Nothing happens when you press start button. I have plugs on the way. Simple to install. Doing an oil change while I am at it. Any ideas what it can be? Hopefully just the plugs? Please help me out.

I have the same problem but what plugs are u talking about and have u been able to fix it. i know for sure my batt is blown it will not hold charge so my first step is to replace it. but i was wondering what other problemPost Solutions i may encounter
Ding ding - winner. Simple process of elimination says the problem is definitely electrical. My money is on battery, but it could be something else or even battery problems caused by something else. Step 1 should be to put it on a battery trickle charger (borrow one if necessary). With a charger, you should be able to tell if the battery is fully charged and if it will hold a charge. Might still have a problem with cranking power, but at least you'll be on the right track. Other option is to swap in a known good battery and give it a go. Also check battery cables and terminals very closely. My buddy's M750 had a similar problem. Terminals looked fine with no visible corrosion until removed. However a strange film had formed between the terminal post and the cable connection that was slightly visible once the cables were disconnected. A few passes with a wire brush and bike and battery were fine.
Its your starter motor solenoid I had the same problem on mine.
