DURABRAND 2.0 CH USB COMPUTER SPEAKERS
I recently purchased some Durabrand 2.0 CH USB COMPUTER SPEAKERS at Wal-mart. I had recently updated my Dell Computer to run on a new Windows XP Home Edition I operating system. My computer does not have internal speakers so I installed the purchased speakers and I attached them to my computer with the USB connection and the green connection cord to the sound card. All I hear coming from the speakers is a scratchy sound like just air. It could be that I might have to update the driver to the sound card, which I did from the device manager in the computer; but that did not work. I also tried the speakers from the Dell computer at work and they work just fine without me having to change anything on the computer at work. So, does this mean, I need to do some changes or downloads to my computer?...I need help.

I work at a church as a Systems Administrator, and when I came here, there were 2 pairs of the speakers sitting around, one still in the box, I would assume ready to be used. I've also discovered that several of our users have these same speakers on their desk. On every pair I've tried, on all different computers, old Compaqs, to new Dells, to a brand new custom built computer, and even on a Mac, they all produce the same nasty, scratchy static, even with the volume turned all of the way down. In short, I would say this: these Durabrand speakers are total garbage. If you can, just return them to Walmart. For probably 5 bucks more at Walmart or elsewhere (check newegg.com or tigerdirect.com), you can get some real speakers that actually work. I bought some $16 Altec Lansings on Tiger Direct to replace these. To repeat: don't bother with the Durabrand USB powered speakers!
Try going to control panel, the system icon, hardware tab, divice manager, check to see if your sound card does not have a yellow ! icon next to it, if it does try right click, go to properties, and reinstalling it, it does help if the computer is hooked to the internet so it can find it automaticly over the internet.

My computer does not have internal speakers and may not have a sound driver installed either. This is a company computer so I can't do alot of downloading. So what or is there a best way for me to get my new speakers up and running.
The speakers may not be compatible with your sound card. Check your devices for the sound card that you currently have, and then look it up online to assure compatibilty -- if the speakers worked on another computer, this may be the problem.

I could not get my speakers to work but i kept messing around on the computer and finally they started working. Dont really know how i did it but they work good now.
