Durabrand DUR-7? Need a new ribbon
I had this unit given to me as it was going to be trash. It powers on fine..wouldn't read any discs. I'm somewhat handy with electronics, at least when it comes to changing parts etc.
I noticed after carefully opening it up, the 'ribbon' which goes from the main board to the optic/laser eye has bad spots and a small tear that breaks a few contacts.
The ribbon in this is thinner/smaller than anything else I have lying around for parts..and is way too small and fragile to repair by removing coating and soldering..the screen works and battery seems to be good, so I would like to know where I might find a compatible ribbon.
The small plastic 'keepers' are also damaged..I suppose if I had a ribbon and no keepers to hold it in place I could use some thin plastic or paper folded over to wedge it in place.
It was made in September 2005 S/N RS300ED15059
As far as Model indication I only see a DUR-7
A personal DVD player isn't something I would really buy, but wouldn't mind having. I like to tinker and fix things, and am handy in adjusting the lasers when possible, and voltages if there is a small potentiometer for different disc types.
Any help on where I could buy a ribbon like this or salvage from something else would be appreciated.
